Obituary for Donald W. Jenkins Sr.
Donald W. Jenkins Sr., 83, of Springfield, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at Glenn Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born on June 18, 1936, the son of James William Jenkins and Maebelle (Angel) Allen.
Don was a past member of the Eagles Lodge in Battle Creek and enjoyed attending church and dinners at East Leroy Community Church.
Don is survived by his Wife, Betty J. (Busick) Jenkins; Six Children, Donald (Patricia) Jenkins Jr., Diana Jenkins, Karen Peterson, Vicki Corkins, Korena Corkins, Kristine (Norm Baker) Poole; 17 Grandchildren, Numerous Great Grandchildren and Five Siblings, Lyle, Buster, Dan, Helen and Sally Jenkins. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister, Donna Rose and Brother, Jerold Jenkins.
Don loved watching race car races and wrestling, he also enjoyed driving and building race cars. He took pride in his houseboat, The Iron Maiden, that he built with his brother Dan, and owned for 35 years. Through the years, many memories were made on and around the houseboat with his family! Don and his brothers made up a bowling team and enjoyed bowling with each other and against other family teams. Don was a family man and would save his change to give to his grandchildren. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
Service and interment will take place at the Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens on Friday, November 15th at 2:00 pm with Pastor Kathleen Jenkins officiating. Following the service a luncheon will be held at the East Leroy Community Church, 4502 L Dr S, East Leroy, MI 49051.
